Midjourney is an image model used through Discord and its own web editor, known for a distinct, painterly aesthetic and a large community that has spent years learning what its prompt syntax does. It excels at stylized, atmospheric and art-directed images: concept art, editorial illustration, fashion and architecture renders, and moody photographic looks with strong color grading. Parameters appended to the prompt control aspect ratio, stylization strength and other behavior.

The prompts here are recognizable by their form: comma-separated descriptive fragments, often naming a medium (oil painting, 35mm film, isometric render), a lighting condition and a color palette, followed by parameters like an aspect ratio. Subjects range from fantasy environments to fashion editorials to logo and pattern explorations. The model tends to add its own polish, so the useful prompts are more about establishing a mood and material than about controlling every element. Text and precise layout are not its strengths.

Prompting tips

• Lead with subject and medium, then lighting and palette; later fragments carry less weight than earlier ones.
• Set aspect ratio with --ar and check the stylize setting; defaults add a house look you may not want.
• Use image references or style references for consistency across a set; text alone will not repeat a character reliably.
